Biography
Manuela Villiger (*1992) is a Swiss saxophonist and composer based in Olten (CH). Trained as a classical saxophone player, she now focuses mainly on the performance of contemporary music and the production of interdisciplinary performance projects. She is not limited to instrumental works, but is increasingly involved in performative and installative works incorporating multimedia. Very interested in combining performative, acoustic and digital elements, she works intensively with live electronics and visuals. The inclusion of live data generated by physical sensors forms an important element in her work as a composer. She regularly collaborates with international composers and actively participates in various festivals. She is a member of eventuell., Ensemble Sargo, Bold? and BlasArt and was awarded a cultural prize by the canton of Solothurn in 2016.
