Wind
for wind instruments, sampler, mikrofone and propeller
In the piece "Wind", the wind instruments play a theme from Symphony No. 7.
The musicians play the theme with an airy sound.
The motif is recorded and played back through the loudspeakers.
Then the musicians take their music sheets and create wind with it.
They play with the wind from the music sheets, influencing the speed and pitch of the recorded motif. At the same time, they control the speed of the four propellers.
The four voices; horn, flute, oboe and bassoon each have a propeller which they play.
In this piece the microphones are used for the audio recording and as sensors.
"Wind" is one of eight compositions for the Zurich Baroque Orchestra, objects and live electronics as part of the project "Du matin au soir".
The compositions refer to different places of performance: the botanical garden, the swimming pool and the church, as well as to the three times of day - morning, noon and evening.
The eight pieces can be understood as "sound interventions".
They were performed between the movements of Joseph Haydn's three symphonies:
No. 6 'Le Matin', No. 7 'Le Midi' and No. 8 'Le Soir'. - Erstellungsjahr 2023
