Born in 1951, Rudolf Lutz is a conductor, organist, composer and lecturer. Until 2013, he was an organist at the Protestant church of St. Laurenzen in Saint-Gall; until 2008, he conducted the Bach Choir. As a teacher of master classes, Lutz is internationally sought after, and he has taught improvisation at the Schola Cantorum Basel. In 2006, he was awarded the Culture Prize of the Canton of Saint-Gall and, in 2015, the Prize of the Stiftung für Abendländische Ethik und Kultur (Foundation for Western Ethics and Culture). He has been artistic director of the J.S. Bach Foundation in Saint-Gall since 2006.
