Pierre Favre’s first contact with jazz was through Be-Bop, before playing older styles like New Orleans and Dixieland. Towards the end of the '60s, he developed a new melodic conception of percussion and altered his instrument to broaden the possibilities of modern drumming. From the outset in the early '70s, his solo percussion has received unanimous rave reviews from the press. Pierre Favre is also a dedicated composer.
