VIF für vier Fagotte
Die beiden Sechstonreihen, die VIF eröffnen, entsprechen dem Material von Boulez’ „Notation No.4“. Die erste, ein nach dem Prinzip des „chromatisme retourné“ melodisch aufgefalteter Quartcluster zwischen f1 und c1 wird beantwortet durch die gleiche, retrograd gespiegelte, gebrochene chromatische Sequenz, die den komplementären Tonvorrat fis bis h umfasst.
Das ganze Stück ist aus diesem Ausgangsmaterial generiert. Die homogene Besetzung mit den vier identischen Instrumenten erlaubt es, neben getragenen Passagen sehr dichte kanonische das „Ohr verwirrende“ Tonaggregate in den musikalischen Raum zu stellen, im Sinne von klanglichen „trompe l’oreille“.
Vif for four bassoons
Two series of six notes open the composition Vif, picking up the beginning of the 4th piece in Pierre Boulez’ Douze Notations unfolding melodically a cluster of fourths between f1 and c1 on one side and the opposite answer with the retrograde cluster-notes f-sharp1 until b1 on the other side. The whole piece is developed out of this materiel. The homogeneous quartet of four equal instruments allows to write very close aggregates of canonic passages leading to „trompe-l’oreille“ situations.
