Daniel Glaus is one of the most renowned Swiss composers with over 150 compositions ranging from solo forms, chamber music and choral works to chamber operas and large sacred and secular oratorios. In his compositions and in his playing as an organist, he finds unexpected forms of hearing and sound, experimenting with voices, materials and spaces. In his work, he reflects on philosophical, socially and environmentally critical issues, engages with the Jewish Kabbalah as well as with the latest texts critical of religion.
He worked as a university teacher and organ researcher in Zurich and Bern and initiated the unique concept of a wind-dynamic organ. For 40 years, the internationally sought-after organist has played throughout Europe, from 1985 to 2022 also as organist at the Stadtkirche Biel and as titulaire at Bern Minster, where he developed a wide range of musical activities.
