Martina Berther, 1984 geboren und aufgewachsen in Chur, heute wohnhaft in Zürich, ist eine der vielseitigsten E-Bassistinnen der Schweizer Musikszene. Ihr Klangspektrum reicht von Pop, Jazz, Punk und Noise bis hin zu experimenteller Musik und freier Improvisation. Mit ihrem Duo Ester Poly mit Béatrice Graf, dem Kollektiv AUL, solo als Frida Stroom oder mit der Sängerin Sophie Hunger ist sie international unterwegs. Die Bündnerin schreibt Musik für Filme, interessiert sich für interdisziplinäre Zusammenarbeiten, ist als Multiinstrumentalistin und Sessionmusikerin tätig und bis anhin auf rund 23 veröffentlichten Tonträgern zu hören. 2018 erhielt sie das Werkjahr der Stadt Zürich. 2020 wird sie Preisträgerin des Schweizer Musikpreises. Im Jahr 2012 schloss sie ihr Studium der Musikpädagogik und Performance Jazz an der Hochschule Luzern (HSLU) ab.
