Artificial Creativity: The Simulacrum of the Artist
Today, generative algorithms can create original images, sounds, and texts that rival artworks crafted by humans. Are machines merely simulating the artistic process, or should they be considered a new form of artificial creator? After examining these alternatives, we will explore a third perspective based on the concepts of cultural objects and simulacra: can both artists and algorithms be understood as socio-historical products that express and make specific drives perceptible?
