On Creolized New Music.

Klassik, Jazz und Pop dominieren im westlichen Kulturkreis die Rezeption von Musik – «Beyond Music» bietet die Gelegenheit, sich mit der Tonkunst in alternativen Kontexten zu befassen. 2024 gilt das besondere Interesse den Traditionen Afrikas und Indiens, verbunden mit der Frage, wie diese in der Gegenwart fortwirken.
In Kooperation mit dem Museum Rietberg Zürich und der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz.

Music history in the 20th and increasingly in the 21st century has to a great extent been shaped by the cultural dynamic of creolization, a process by which elements of distinct cultures are blended together to create a new culture. Dr. Harald Kisiedu describes this cultural dynamic which is continuously destabilizing cherished binary oppositions deemed essential to the formation of individual and collective identity.
